Group of 15 public bodies pool their requirements for devices and data

A range of police forces and fire brigades across Yorkshire and the north east have teamed up to launch a framework for mobile devices and data potentially worth more than £60m.
The Police and Crime Commissioner for West Yorkshire has issued a contract notice seeking up to two suppliers for a four-year contract to provide “mobile devices, data, and ancillaries” to eight police forces and seven fire services.
The minimum estimated value of the deal – based on West Yorkshire Police’s current device requirement, and no further purchases – is £4.2m. But if all 15 bodies use the framework for the duration of its four-year lifespan and each invest in two refreshes of their device estate the contract could be worth £55.3m plus VAT, the notice said.

Potential suppliers have until 22 January to submit their bids. The contract is due to kick off on 5 March.
The framework will be available for use by seven English police forces and the corresponding fire and rescue service, including South, West, and North Yorkshire, as well as Humberside, Cleveland, Durham, and Northumbria. Dyfed-Powys Police in Mid Wales is also included on the framework.
