The Department for International Trade is looking to fill a range of Grade 7 digital roles, including a head of digital skills, a digital security officer and an analytics and insights lead manager.

The department, which was created in last year’s Whitehall reshuffle, is expected to come under increasing pressure as the Brexit negotiations progress, and has been recruiting new staff quickly to cope with demand.

The latest round of recruitment sees the DIT listing 12 digital roles on the Civil Service Jobs website, all advertised at between £48,000 and £56,000.

Among them is the role of head of digital skills, who will be responsible for designing recruitment packs and processes – in line with the new Digital, Data and Technology profession framework – and finding and vetting the best talent for the DIT.

They will also work with the department to identify any skills or capacity gaps and coordinate training and coaching programmes for the digital team with the heads of digital technologies – such as web technology.

A head of digital policy is sought to maintain relationships inside and outside Whitehall, engage with cross-government digital policies and the Government Digital Service, and ensure the digital team understand relevant policy areas.

The policy lead will also respond to parliamentary questions and Freedom of Information requests related to digital and brief the department’s ministerial team.

Meanwhile, a digital security officer will be responsible for implementing and maintaining assurance processes, improving information governance within the DIT and ensuring that services meet the digital by default standard.

There is also a job advert for an analytics and insights lead manager, who will report to the deputy director of data, and help define and implement web analytics standards, processes and technology for DIT’s digital presence.

This includes monitoring activity and behaviours across services, producing reports and dashboards and work with the data science team to improve evaluation of services.

All these roles close for applications on 26 May, while adverts for delivery, service and product managers have a longer deadline of 16 June.

The roles with longer deadlines include delivery and product managers for the site Great.gov.uk, a delivery manager for the Invest in Great Britain and Northern Ireland platform, and a service manager for the department’s data hub.

The department has recently closed a recruitment drive for a director of technology, who will be tasked with developing a single IT solution for UK and overseas-based staff, replacing disparate systems from the Ministry of Defence, the Department for Business, Energy, and Industrial Strategy, and the Foreign and Commonwealth Office.
