University College London Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust has chosen Atos to be its primary ICT contractor as the company expands its work with the UK’s health sector.

The deal, announced today, is for an initial 10 years with the possibility of two 12-month extensions, and has been valued at £130m.
It will see Atos delivering outsourced IT from the trust, which the company said would enhanced the trust’s unified ICT service model.

Atos is now the primary ICT contractor and systems integrator for the London-based trust, with all transformation services under a managed service agreement.
This includes end-user technology, information security, service desk and private cloud data centre services.
In addition, Atos said there is also a digital transformation element that will soon include architecture and data services.
Atos UK&I senior vice president for health and public sector, Philip Chalmers, said that the company “understand[s] the potential of technology to free up clinicians to deliver enhanced health, wellbeing and patient outcomes”.
Atos has signed contracts with a number of other healthcare bodies, including the acute and mental health trusts and ambulance services.
