A new shared ICT and digital service for three north London boroughs has appointed Ed Garcez as its new head.
Garcez will move from his current role in charge of the ICT shared services for Westminster, Hammersmith and Fulham and the Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea.
He will join the joint service team created by Camden, Haringey and Islington, aimed at creating efficiency savings in tens of millions of pounds.
Theo Blackwell, cabinet member for finance, technology and growth at London Borough of Camden, said: “Our new chief digital and information officer will help transform the way 700,000 residents in North London digitally connect with us.”
He said that Garcez’s experience leading the tri-borough ICT team in west London was key to his appointment.
Garcez beat off more than 100 applicants for the role to win the role, but no start date has yet been agreed.
Prior to his current role, Garcez was chief information officer (divisional director of ICT) at London Borough of Lambeth.
He has also worked as a programme manager for British Airways and in a number of business analyst roles.
He also possesses a master’s degree in information processing from the University of York.
