ICT supplier Specialist Computer Centres has won a multi-million pound contract to provideICT infrastructure services to Oxford City Council.
The council launched a tender earlier this year which gave it the flexibility to appoint a single supplier or different suppliers for seven separate lots.
It has opted to appoint SCC for the whole gamut of services in a 10 year deal which will begin in April next year.
The council said: “. The council currently has all its ICT infrastructure provided by Oxfordshire County Council under a partnership agreement which will come to an end on 31 March 2016.
“The successful organisations will therefore be required to be able to manage the transition of the service…”
The contract covers data centre hosting, server and storage capacity, server technical support, database administration, network security infrastructure and support, ICT service management and IT service desk operations.
The contract allows partner councils, including the county council, to enter into a contract with SCC to provide the defined services.
The council did not reveal how much it was paying for the service, but said that the lowest offer from bidders was £6m, with the highest coming in at £13.5m.
In its last financial results, SCC announced its UK revenues reached £751m during 2013-14, with a 27% increase in profitability over the year.
