Wycombe confirms Capita ICT contract price

Wycombe District Council has confirmed Capita as the successful bidder to run its ICT services and customer services – at a price half of that previously reported.

The company announced that it had been selected as preferred bidder for the five year contract at the beginning of July.

At that stage, the value of the contract was widely reported to be around £14m, although the final amount was revealed this week as £7,253,584.

Under the contract, Capita Secure Information Systems will provide ICT maintenance and support services for the council’s ICT and communication systems along with face-to-face telephone and online customer services.

This contract will replace the current £5.9m contract with supplier Northgate that is due to expire in early 2015. The council received four bids in response to the tender it released.

Elsewhere, another Capita company, Capita Business Services, has won a £3m contract to run children and educational records management system for Leicester City Council.

The new system will record and store children’s records and produce reports relating to management of children’s services, school places, assessment and attainment information, information on parents and governors, interactions with specialist services, school transport and early years provision.
