Cornwall Council is exploring a technological revamp of its council chambers, including the possible implementation of systems for electronic voting and remote contributions to proceedings.

The local authority has published a request for information seeking responses from potential suppliers of the necessary technology.

“Cornwall Council is conducting a soft market assessment to gain an understanding of the technical solutions available to support a full audio visual and electronic voting solution including remote participation and broadcast for the Council Chamber at New County Hall, Truro, Cornwall,” the RFI notice said. “We would also like to look into the possibility of a second phase implementation for our committee room spaces in three key locations.”

The authority said that, once it had gathered responses, it would use them to develop a business proposal”.

“Any such proposal would be subject to the development and approval of a business case, and, as such, this exercise implies no commercial commitment,” it added “Participation of this soft market assessment will not prejudice suppliers participating in any future procurement.”

Suppliers interested in submitting a response [5] have until 31 May to do so.
