The NHS Test and Trace scheme has boosted its digital design expertise with a £1.25m deal for a specialist supplier to supplement the work of internal staff.

On 2 August, the programme entered into an eight-month contract with specialist firm Nomensa.

The contract, which runs until 31 March, is to “fill a requirement for UX (user experience) and design capability”.

Staff from Nomensa will “work alongside in-house teams and other suppliers” to provide design and development services. The goal of this work will be to “deliver outcomes based on data and user needs”, the contract said.

“Suppliers will provide capability to design, and write content for T&T services and products based on user needs and behaviour,” it added. “They will work with blended teams across T&T to design and deliver at pace user-centred government services that meet the government service standard. The contract will support capability gaps across the CX (customer experience) division.”

The deal was awarded through the fifth iteration of the Digital Outcomes and Specialists framework, which allows public sector entities to source “teams or individuals to build and support the digital transformation of public services”.

Test and Trace used the second lot of the procurement vehicle, which covers the provision of digital specialists. 

Headquartered in Bristol, Nomensa also operates offices in London and Amsterdam. The company was founded 20 years ago.
