The UK’s largest IT reseller Computacenter has won a four-year £27m deal to provide “core support services” to Transport for London.

The company has been tasked with delivering “service-desk and desk-side support services”. It will be expected to guarantee “continuity of service” for TfL, as well as making improvements to the transport network’s current service offerings “in line with business requirements and strategic direction”.

“During the term of the contract, and aligned with TfL's strategic direction, TfL may engage with the successful bidder to review and potentially provide additional services,” it said. “These potential services are not included in the current contract scope but may be requested via the change control procedure.”

TfL first tendered [4] the contract last year, estimating that the engagement would be worth between £30m and £70m to the winning bidder over the course of up to seven years.

The transport organisation has ultimately signed a four-year deal with Computacenter worth £26.9m. The deal will come into effect on 25 January 2020.

TfL said that it wants the contract to allow it to more widely adopt “the principles of joint working, collaboration and co-operation” with its IT partners. The deal has also been “designed to provide opportunities for TfL and the supplier to work together openly, delivering continuous product [and] service improvement and innovation”.

Headquartered in Hatfield in Hertfordshire, Computacenter posted global sales of £4.35bn in 2018 – including UK revenue of £1.6bn.
