The House of Commons is offering a salary of up to £96,000 in its bid to recruit a director of cybersecurity.

The successful candidate, who join the Parliamentary Digital Service, will assume overall responsibility for the Palace of Westminster’s cybersecurity strategy. This will involve keeping on top of both internal and external threats and advocating best practice to members of both houses.

The postholder’s duties will be split across four main tracks: cybersecurity governance; cybersecurity programmes and projects; risk management; and response management.

The governance segment will involve the creation and management of security frameworks, strategies and policies, while the projects section will address investments in technologies and their ongoing support.

Risk management includes the development of “analytical and continuous” processes to monitor and mitigate against threats. Response management, meanwhile, covers the deployment of “processes for detecting, identifying and analysing cybersecurity-related events”, as well the implementation of recovery plans.

The position requires a formal cybersecurity certification – such as CISSP, CISM, or CRISC – as well as experience of “having dealt successfully with cyber security incidents”.

Applications are open [4] until 11.55pm on Sunday 1 December.
