Sheffield Hallam University is looking to improve its levels of student engagement and retention via the use of a “learner analytics software solution”.

The institution has issued a contract notice seeking a supplier to install and manage the technology. The university is seeking a tool that can collect, collate, and analyse data regarding students and learning environments.

“Our ultimate goal is to increase student retention, improve student support and success, increase student engagement and identify and address differential outcomes for our students,” the university said. “We are therefore seeking to procure and implement a learning analytics solution whilst embedding behavioural and cultural change amongst university staff that enables the best possible use of the information we hold about our students and to engage students with information on their own learning.”

Sheffield Hallam wants the platform to go live for the start of the 2019/20 academic year.

“Therefore, only existing products which are able to fully meet our essential requirements will be considered,” it added.

The engagement will be worth an estimated £500,0000 to the winning bidder, who will be awarded an initial three-year deal, with an option to extend this by a further two years. Bidding is open until 21 December, with a contract scheduled to start on 20 February 2019.
