SUMMARY:Leading Public Services in an Intelligent Economy
DESCRIPTION:In this CSW webinar\, hosted in partnership with KPMG\, we’ll hear from a panel of industry experts and senior officials on how to translate national ambition into operational reality\, through the lens of the intelligent economy and what it means for UK public sector leaders. We’ll explore the government’s role\, the value of public-private partnerships\, the future shape of public services\, and what leaders must prioritise — from infrastructure to workforce and operating models. \n\n\n\n\n\n\nAs government puts artificial intelligence (AI) at the centre of efforts to boost productivity and modernise public services\, senior civil servants are being called on to lead the charge towards an intelligence-driven economy – but they can’t do it alone. \nThe government’s strong commitment to implementing the AI Opportunities – backed by £14bn in new private investment and over 13\,000 new jobs – sets a clear direction towards an inclusive and sustainable economy with broad-based growth\, stemming from the innovation and efficiencies offered by AI. \nWhat role will public service leaders play in achieving this? And how can they prepare themselves and their teams for the opportunities – and challenges – ahead? \nIn this CSW webinar\, hosted in partnership with KPMG\, we’ll hear from a panel of industry experts and senior officials on how to translate national ambition into operational reality. \nDiscussion points include:  \n\nWhat is the intelligent economy\, what role does government play in bringing it about?\nWhy does the intelligent economy matter for public service\nWhat role will public private partnerships play and how can we build successful collaboration between different sectors?\nHow will public services look like in an intelligent economy? SUMMARY:From funding to fulfilment: building confidence in public sector digital and AI transformation
DESCRIPTION:This webinar – which takes place one day after government’s announcement of long-term spending and strategy plans – will examine how departments can ensure major technology initiatives are delivered successfully. The discussion\, with Civil Service World and Baringa\, will cover a range of issues related to planning\, funding\, and delivery\, and will ask how the government’s coming wave of digital and AI initiatives can deliver impactful\, sustainable change. \n\n\n\n\n\n\nWhile digital has long been championed as the key to boosting productivity and outcomes\, attempts to deliver digital transformation often fall short of their stated ambitions. How can public sector leaders have confidence that every digital and artificial intelligence (AI) programme has the right objectives\, is set up to deliver successfully\, and will achieve lasting impact? \nCommon challenges include lack of clarity in the outcomes that initiatives are seeking to achieve\, inflexible funding and delivery models\, a propensity for optimism bias\, and a reluctance to acknowledge when things are not going to plan. \nThese problems are\, at least\, well recognised\, and recent changes to the Digital Centre of Government are designed to reshape how the centre works with departments in delivering transformational digital programmes. \nDiscussion points include:  \n\nWhat cultural and structural barriers are preventing government departments from fully embracing digital and AI transformation – and how can they be overcome?\nHow can procurement strategy and supplier relationships evolve to better support long-term innovation and agility in public sector digital programmes?\nWhat steps can government take to embed continuous learning and service lifecycle thinking into digital delivery?\nIn a rapidly changing AI landscape\, what capabilities and partnerships are essential for building a digitally confident public sector workforce?\n\n  \nREGISTER FREE HERE \n  \n\nIn partnership with Baringa

SUMMARY:Where does technology fit into the UK’s 5\,000 new social homes?
DESCRIPTION:In her first budget\, the UK’s new chancellor Rachel Reeves pledged £500m to support the construction of 5\,000 social homes – as well as a range of other measures intended to support providers to invest in building out social housing stock. \nTo ensure that these investments help address what\, for many local authorities\, has become a crisis\, the sector will need to make effective use of technology. \nDigital systems can help councils best map and manage current demand\, while also providing the opportunity to give tenants more proactive support. \nIn the longer term\, data standards and the application of advanced analytics can help policymakers understand and respond to the most deeply ingrained challenges. \nThe new government’s drive to support the social-housing sector offers a singular opportunity for digital and data to be built in from the ground up. This webinar discussion\, brought to you by PublicTechnology and Civica\, will examine how government\, local authorities\, and housing providers can ensure that the next generation of social homes uses technology to meet the needs of all parties. \n\nTopics being examined will include: \n\nHow managers and policymakers can use data to understand and respond to their biggest challenges\nBuilding new homes with digital in mind\nUsing tech and automation to streamline admin processes and free up time for more complex issues\nHow to capture comprehensive and consistent data – and put it to good use in providing support\nHow to equip tenants to use digital services to interact with housing providers\n\n  \nREGISTER FREE HERE \n  \n\nIn partnership with Civica

SUMMARY:Women in Public Technology
DESCRIPTION:Three million individuals power the UK technology sector. Yet\, within this thriving industry\, female representation remains stubbornly low — only 26% of these tech enthusiasts are women\, and just 5% find themselves in leadership positions. \nThere is no exception when it comes to the persistence of the gender gap for women working in public technology. Gender leadership gaps in the traditionally male-dominated field of technology have both visible and invisible barriers that continue to hold women back.  Furthermore\, there is marked lack of data and support addressing the specific circumstances of women working in public technology. \nThe unique Women in Public Technology conference seeks to address this gap and support next-generation female leaders in the sector. The event will bring together current and future leaders from across the sector to examine the role of women in public technology and the current and future challenges to leadership. Over the course of the day\, senior leaders will offer guidance\, coaching\, and inspiration for further developing your career\, reaching empowerment and fulfilling your potential. \n  \nWhy attend? \n\nExamine the barriers currently facing female leaders (and future leaders) in public technology and hear how to overcome them\nUnderstand when and how gender plays a role in both organisational and personal advancement\nLearn how successful women negotiate what they need to be effective leaders\nGain a deeper understanding of the skills\, qualities and attributes needed to be a successful leader\nRaise the visibility of women as senior leaders in public technology\nCreate a lasting network of women leaders across the sector who are effecting change in public technology\n\nFIND OUT MORE \n

SUMMARY:Does your school need a digital asset register to keep up with compliance demands?
DESCRIPTION:“The trust must take full responsibility for its financial affairs\, stewardship of assets and use resources efficiently to maximise outcomes for pupils.” \nThis requirement\, outlined in the 2024 edition of the Academy trust handbook\, speaks to the importance for schools of asset management – which is not just a necessary formality\, but an essential discipline that\, ultimately\, improves results for learners. \nMaintaining a comprehensive asset register – covering land and buildings\, vehicles\, technology\, classroom equipment\, furniture and more – is a compliance demand for all schools and academies. \nBut using a dynamic digital platform rather than a manual system provides the opportunity for asset management to move from being an onerous tick-box exercise to something that frees up time and money – two valuable commodities that are invariably in short supply. Tracking the volume\, location\, condition of key supplies enables school leaders to ensure that resources are deployed when and where they are most needed – while also avoiding overspending\, and gaining foresight of any necessary upgrades coming down the line. \nDigital transformation brings its challenges\, however\, including the potential disruption of initial implementation\, the need to ensure all employees are empowered to get the most out of the technology\, and the requirement of ensuring data is protected to the highest standards of security. \nIn this webinar – brought to you by PublicTechnology\, in partnership with Civica – a panel of education and technology experts will examine the potential plus points and pitfalls of digital asset management\, the key barriers to overcome\, and the long-term impact on staff and pupils. \n\nTopics being examined will include: \n\nThe requirements of asset management for schools and academies\nThe options and implications of manual and digital systems\nHow to get the most out of a digital asset register\nDigitising asset management as part of a wider transformation\nThe impact of effective asset management on finances\, performance\, and learning outcomes\n\n  \nREGISTER FREE HERE \n  \n\nIn partnership with Civica

SUMMARY:The road to proactive government
DESCRIPTION:In hindsight\, “black swan” events may have been more likely than we realised. For example\, history tells us that financial downturns often precede conflicts. Despite governments being aware of the possibility of such events\, it is impossible to predict when or how events occur or their consequences. Due to this uncertainty and limited information available\, leaders must prepare strategies based on what seems most likely and urgent at any given time. \nGiven budgetary constraints\, governments may struggle to justify allocating taxpayer funds to prepare for a risk that may not materialise. But\, when unexpected events occur\, the public may question why the government did not take adequate action or prepare sufficiently. \nIn this webinar\, a panel of senior government officials will explore the strategies and the tools available to be prepared for the unexpected while protecting and improving citizens’ lives. \nDiscussion points include: \nHow to improve government’s situational awareness \nImproving the use of real-time data for better decision-making \nThe role of emergent technologies in improving operational efficiencies and increasing public trust \nSpeakers: \nHarry Snart\, Data Scientist at SAS Institute \nJessica Bowie\, Editor at Civil Service World \nMaryam Ahmad\, Head of Analysis – BOLD Programme at Ministry of Justice \n*** Register for this free-to-attend webinar here ***

\nWhy attend?\n\nExamine the barriers currently facing female leaders (and future leaders) in public technology and hear how to overcome them\nUnderstand when and how gender plays a role in both organisational and personal advancement\nLearn how successful women negotiate what they need to be effective leaders\nGain a deeper understanding of the skills\, qualities and attributes needed to be a successful leader\nRaise the visibility of women as senior leaders in public technology\nCreate a lasting network of women leaders across the sector who are effecting change in public technology\n\nWho should attend?\nThe Women in Public Technology conference is aimed at all those who aspire to move into a leadership role or those already in a senior role looking to progress. Presentations and workshops offer practical advice and coaching relevant to all women across the public technology sector.

SUMMARY:Improving data governance to deliver better services
DESCRIPTION:Data is at the heart of decision-making and it’s the building block of modern government – poor quality data can have a real impact on services and outcomes. Good data governance is central to improving the quality and availability of data across government and\, in turn\, improving the policies and services built on that data. However\, recent research by Total Politics\, in partnership with Iron Mountain\, revealed a range of challenges civil servants face around data governance\, with non-standard data records and poor data quality highlighted as two of the biggest problems. \nCSW has teamed up with Iron Mountain for a free-to-attend webinar on 12 March with a panel of senior officials from across the civil service to discuss how the public sector can improve its data governance\, how to create a framework that is realistic and pragmatic – and how to implement it.\nDiscussion points include: \n\nHow data governance can impact public service delivery\nWhat good data governance looks like\nHow to increase awareness of data governance\nPractical advice improving the identification and removal of data that is redundant\, obsolete or trivial (ROT).\nWhat a good retention policy looks like\nThe role of KIM and DDaT professionals in building good data governance\nHow to improve collaboration between teams\n\nFREE TO ATTEND \n

SUMMARY:Women in Local Government
DESCRIPTION:Despite making up 78% of the local government workforce\, women account for only 17% of local authority leaders and 33% of council chief executives – statistics which have hardly changed for a decade. Meanwhile\, following the 2019 council elections\, just 35% of councillors are female\, further representing lack of meaningful progress for women in Local Government. In the context of constitutional change and devolution\, it is more important than ever that leadership teams in local government are fully representative of the populations they serve. \nFollowing hugely successful events in London\, Manchester and online over the past two years\, Women in Local Government returns in 2022 to offer practical advice and coaching on how to address the barriers affecting your progression and further develop your career in times of change. \nWhy attend? \n\nIdentify the unique leadership challenges and opportunities facing women in local government today\nLearn how successful women negotiate for what they need to be effective leaders\nGain a deeper understanding of the skills\, qualities and attributes needed to be a successful leader\nRaise the visibility of women as senior leaders in local government\nCreate a lasting network of women leaders who are effecting change across local government

SUMMARY:Collaborating at every stage of public service delivery to keep tax-payer money in the right hands
DESCRIPTION:When it comes to fraud\, organisations are ‘flying blind’. This is the assessment of the Public Accounts Committee\, which produced a major report into tackling fraud against government in September. With fraud and error losses running to potentially tens of billions a year\, the negative impact on public services – to say nothing of citizens’ trust in government – is of mounting concern. \nIn this free-to-attend webinar\, Civil Service World brings together a panel of experts from government\, industry and academia to explore how a collaborative\, integrated approach to tackling fraud could help stem the flow of losses and rebuild trust. \nWhile incorporating counter-fraud measures at every stage of the delivery cycle may feel like additional hassle and require upfront investment\, creating watertight controls against fraudulent activities will ultimately pay dividends. Such controls include ensuring that suppliers are delivering on what has been promised in their contracts and that invoices are not only legitimate but contain no hidden costs. Continuous monitoring of service delivery also avoids reputational losses\, external collusion\, undeclared corporate interests and other instances of corruption. \nBecause the opportunities to commit fraud against the public sector are so rich and varied\, collaboration across teams – sharing findings and honing into shared risks – should be a key part of any effort to stop the scammers. To support the counterfraud efforts of teams at every stage – from planning to delivery – our webinar will discuss: \n\nBest practice examples of integrated counter-fraud work\nKey points to consider when building a business case for integrated fraud work\nWhether measures taken against fraudulent activities can actually be used to streamline processes and increase productivity\nThe importance of leadership in bringing about culture change in government organisations\nThe benefits of an integrated approach to truly understanding both the value and the risks that arise when third party organisations deliver public services\n\n  \nFree to Register >>
