Bridgend County Borough Council in Wales has launched the tender process for a new digital self-service system for residents.
Just published documents for bidders say the authority is seeking to buy in a digital self service platform “to enable the shift of services online, to assist the authority in being able to promote the use of online services and more intuitive use of data”.
Bridgend is proposing a five-year deal with the potential to extend services for a further two years, and estimates the contract value to be in the region of £1m, exclusive of VAT.

According to the bid notice, the council is seeking a portal for citizens to interact with the authority that will include the creation of a “myaccount” facility giving access to anytime digital self-serve services.
A survey of local authorities last year predicted an “explosion” in the delivery of self-service platforms, with more than two-thirds of IT managers expecting their council to use self-service for the majority of their services by 2018.
Annual savings from the move to digital were projected by participants at £1.42m.
The deadline for bids for Bridgend’s planned platform is midday on April 19.
