Local government spending through the G-Cloud framework totalled £1.93m in February, the government has announced.

The figure is up 12 per cent from December, after a blip where sales fell to just £635,357 in January.

Overall sales through G-Cloud across all government organisations including central government rose from £26.8m to £39.2m between January and February. To date, 49% of total sales by value and 59% by volume have been awarded to SMEs.

Cumulative local government sales through the framework has now reached £30.8m, making up 6% of the total.

In February, 113 purchases were made in the local authority category, by 35 councils, Transport for London, the Greater London Authority, three housing associations, plus a shared services local authority company.

The biggest purchase by a local government body in February in the category was for £325,000 by Hampshire County Council for services provided by consultancy Deloitte.

The government also announced that the cumulative total of purchases made through the Digital Services Framework (DSF) now stands at £12,094,524.

In a blog post, Caroline Mulligan, service manager at the Government Digital Service said that other digital and ICT frameworks are currently being discussed as contenders to join G-Cloud and the DSF on the Digital Marketplace platform.
