PublicTechnology Live 2025: London,12 May – your free ticket to discover the digital future of public services

Dear PublicTechnology reader,

In some of our recent newsletters and editorial coverage, you may have spotted some (probably not very) subtle encouragement on my part to join us at our flagship annual event: PublicTechnology Live, taking place in central London on Monday 12 May.

With just 10 days to go, and if you’ll forgive me one final (and even less subtle) such encouragement, I am delighted to announce that we have a complete line-up of content. This concludes with an exclusive session giving you the chance to hear from, and put your questions to, two of the figureheads leading government’s new digital centre, and its ambitious plans to reform the state.

In the final slot of the one-day conference – which is completely free for all public and third sector delegates, and also includes a full day of food and drink – we will feature an on-stage Q&A with Emily Middleton: Director General of Digital Centre Design at the Department for Science, Innovation and Technology, and one of the key architects of the ‘new Government Digital Service’.

Her appearance follows directly on from a presentation from her GDS colleague, Thomas Beautyman, Deputy Director of Government Digital Capability, discussing government’s landmark plans for one in ten civil servants to work in the digital field.

And both of these sessions come at the end of a day beginning with a panel of Whitehall permanent secretaries, and featuring an unmatched array of leaders and innovators representing the best of digital and data in central government, local authorities, and civil society.

Attendees, who can join us for as much or as little of the day as they are able, can hear about topics such as how digital is reshaping interactions between citizens and frontline local council services, the transformation of government’s largest department and the wider justice system, and what public bodies can do to ensure their old devices can serve social good, rather than sitting on the scrapheap. And so much more besides.

It is going to be a great day, and I would love to see as many of you there as possible. If you have any questions or there’s anything we could do to support your attendance, please do not hesitate to drop me a line.

Whether you are able to join us for a little bit, a lot, or not at all, I would like to offer my heartfelt thanks for any time you spend engaging with PublicTechnology and what we do. It is hugely and sincerely appreciated.

All the best,
Sam
