Local government leaders have faced increasing challenges since the 2008 financial crisis. Today, they are dealing with rapid and massive changes, financial pressures, increasing service needs, and unexpected events like the Covid-19 pandemic and global conflicts.

In response to these urgent issues, Civica and Solace worked together to understand and meet the changing needs of local government leaders and held workshops and individual meetings with local government leaders across the UK. The workshops identified six “megatrends” that participants believed would strongly influence the future of local government.
