There is nothing new under the Sun, Ecclesiastes teaches us. So we shouldn’t get that excited really about the concept of ‘shared services’; it’s an idea that’s been around for years. It was certainly something Gershon was banging on about in 2004, for example; the Publictechnology.net search engine returns no less than 100 pages of mentions of the approach, back to that time alone. What’s the fuss now?
