Anyone in local government or agencies with responsibility for protecting and providing services to vulnerable children and their families needs to know about the RYOGENS national e-Government Project.
The project has put together a simple, practical information sharing tool to enable local cross-agency practitioners to share concerns in order to identify and assess vulnerable young people.
The project has been developed in co-operation with the Department for Education and Skills, the Youth Justice Board and the Office of the e-Envoy. It provides a link between the preventative work of the YJB in implementing Youth Inclusion and Support Panels and the wider agenda of the Green Paper Every Child Matters.
RYOGENS offers a cost-effective and immediately applicable technical solution to underpin
> joint working between agencies and
> clear accountability for getting the right outcomes for vulnerable children.
Alongside the RYOGENS IT system, there is an implementation toolkit, available free to any Local Authority which adopts the system.
The National Launch is on Tuesday 6 April, primarily for local authority Chief Executives an opportunity to see the system. It's also a sales pitch, as ODPM funding for the project finished on 31 March, and the project is now in sales mode - with an aim of maximising uptake across the country.
The RYOGENS project is being led by a partnership of three local authorities - Warwickshire (lead authority), Tower Hamlets and Lewisham, with Deloitte engaged as programme manager and Esprit the supplier of the technical solution.
Who is being invited on 6 April?
This invitation is being sent to all Chief Executives [of County Council and Unitary Authorities] in England. Chairs of Crime and Disorder Reduction Partnerships are also being invited as are key professional bodies. There will be senior representation from relevant central Government Departments including the YJB and the Home Office.
