A programme of guidance on e-learning, inspection and quality issues in post-16 education and training is to be distributed to colleges, local learning and skills councils and main providers of adult and community learning this week.
Demonstrating Transformation is a new interactive resource which has been developed by Becta's Ferl service: a post-16 ICT and e-learning information service funded by the National Learning Network, in conjunction with the Learning and Skills Development Agency (LSDA).
With advice from inspectors on the effective deployment of learning technologies, this newly developed resource will prove an invaluable guide for institutions preparing for internal self-assessment and for inspection by external agencies.
The three regional launch events will be held throughout March to accompany the release of the programme: in London (5th), Birmingham (16th) and Manchester (29th).
Ferl is an information service for all staff working within the Post-Compulsory Education sector. Ferl supports individuals and organisations in making effective use of ILT (Information Learning Technologies) through web-based information services, conferences, publications and other events. Ferl is part of the National Learning Network and managed by Becta (British Educational Communications and Technology Agency).
Demonstrating transformation forms strand six of the Ferl Practitioners' Programme (FPP), a comprehensive staff training initiative in the effective use of learning technologies for post-16 education. Launched in June 2003, the FPP is now in use in some 67% of further education and sixthform colleges across the UK.
The National Learning Network is a national partnership programme designed to increase the uptake of information learning technologies across the learning and skills sector in England.
