The London Borough of Lewisham has put out a tender for the Airshare Wimax Infrastructure Development, within the boundaries of Croydon and Lewisham - a Wimax service for the Borough.
Croydon and Lewisham are particularly looking for providers with experience of developing a Pre-wimax network, experience of working for public sector organisations and ability to meet very short and tight timescales.
The development of a wireless network, linked to the corporate internet networks of two South East London Boroughs (Croydon and Lewisham). The infrastructure must use Wimax (802.16) to supply backhaul and must be transferred into 802.11 to enable users using wifi (802.11) to connect to the internet. The wireless connectivity should be ubiquitous across a designated area (eg. 25% of given borough area) and will also include hotspots which are contiguous across borough boundaries and will therefore have different backhaul connections.
