Nottinghamshire County Council and OLM Professional Services partner for ‘Putting People First’

Nottinghamshire County Council has announced a partnership with OLM Professional Services, part of OLM Group, to create two separate strategies in line with implementing Putting People First (PPF).

This commission represents an extension to the council’s existing transformation programme and focuses on universal services and building social capital.

To assist with the development of the council’s personalisation strategies, OLM Professional Services will create an ‘in year’ plan and a three year plan for universal services and building social capital.

A major part of the PPF agenda is creating a range of services and support universally available to the whole community to help people maintain independence and reduce their need for formal support. It is about creating easy access to everyday local, public and community services that help people maintain their lives without formal intervention from social care services; an aim which is of paramount importance to Nottinghamshire.

It is also a key principle of the agenda that informal systems of support available in peoples own communities are nurtured and sustained. Building social capital is about creating structures that support the sustainability of on-going social capital in the community and deliver better informal local support to enable independence and support carers.

Paul Mckay, programme director, transformation of social care, at Nottinghamshire County Council stated: “Nottinghamshire County Council aims to ensure that in line with the Putting People First agenda it addresses the importance of universal services and building social capital. OLM Professional Services shares our vision and commitment to transforming adult social care, and this programme of change will have a major impact on the support and services that are available to people of Nottinghamshire.”

Sam Newman, personalisation programme director at OLM Group said: “OLM Professional Services is excited to be at the cutting edge of PPF activity and assisting councils’ progression towards the radical reform of public services. In partnership with Nottinghamshire County Council, we aim to strengthen its delivery in these key areas and help the council transform its adult social care.”
