Sun Microsystems is the latest company to join the British Computer Society's (BCS) group membership scheme.
The global systems company is among a growing list of blue chip names including Deloitte, RBS and Capgemini, to sign up to BCS group membership.
Wayne Horkan, Chief Technology Officer, United Kingdom & Ireland at Sun Microsystems, says the company is keen to underline the importance of professionalism as well as enhance individuals' career development.
He says: "Sun is dedicated to professionalism; and in my opinion the BCS has never been more relevant as the emphasis on professionalism in IT, across the UK and the wider world, continually increases."
Marcus Harris, BCS UK Corporate Sales Director, says: "Having a company as well-known and well-regarded as Sun Microsystems to sign up to our group membership scheme shows how significant the role of IT professionalism is becoming to companies competing for, and trying to retain, the best talent for competitive advantage."
Benefits of BCS group membership include opportunities for continual professional development, networking through branch meetings, events, forums, and specialist groups, obtaining access to BCS' information, plus a range of diverse member benefits.
