Ofsted website praised in Annual Report of HM Chief Inspector of Schools

A driving force behind the establishment of Ofsted in 1992 was the wish to provide parents and local communities with up-to-date information about their local schools, to reassure them of the quality of the schools and to reveal weaknesses. Ofsted has succeeded in this ambition; local newspapers and the number of visits to Ofsted's website – over 17,000 a day – reveal the extent of interest in the performance of schools by those who use them.
