Bristol City Council said it has achieved a 60% reduction in costs over a five-year period and 15% increase in operational efficiency in the past year from its implementation of ASG's operations management solutions.
These improvements were attained through ASG-Zara and ASG-Zack, which provide tape management and console automation for the Council's IBM z/OS® operating infrastructure, replacing products and services previously supplied by Computer Associates.
Geoff Endicott, group leader, Bristol City Council Infrastructure Services said: 'We wanted to save money, but we didn't want our service level
to suffer. ASG offered us great systems at a very attractive price point and the project team, planning, and on-site technician were excellent.'
Currently, the main users of ASG's solutions are 2,500 operational support staff members who use the mainframe system for financial management. These users deliver IT services to Bristol's 400,000 citizens.
Ed Hallock, senior director of solutions management, ASG added: 'For the past 20 years, ASG has had a strong heritage in IT operations. It doesn't matter whether our customers' needs are large or small."

"Across the World, governments created groups to explore the problems and the potential for strengthening citizen participation in local government. They then reunited the ‘champions of participation’ from countries in every continent to identify lessons and how sharing this experience might inform and shape policy and practice. Social media is one tool where organisations can embrace such initiatives and is an especially effective one when it comes to engaging the younger public." Read more
